The 122 GHz Secondary amateur band has the added challenge of a serious atmospheric attenuation due to a nearby Oxygen resonance, as well as moisture absorption. Nonetheless synthesisers and multipliers can be used to make narrowband tranverters and high gain antennas assist the link budget. In recent times, equipment availability has been transformed by the availability of Silicon radar chips that have been adapted by amateurs.
